Matrix Setup
Matrix pricing is a method of tracking the price of toppings by increasing the base price of the main item instead of the modifier.
Certain conditions must be met in order to utilize Matrix Pricing:
- Toppings must be priced similarly, all toppings must have either a whole dollar amount ($1.00, $2.00,$3.00) or the same decimal increment ($.75, $1.50, $2.25)
- You can use Matrix pricing or Item Levels, they cannot be mixed
- You cannot use matrix pricing and item level pricing at the same time. It must be one or the other for each item.
- A Matrix Main item and a Matrix Mod item setup in the Item Manager
Matrix Pricing consists of linking two or more items from the Item Manager into a pricing matrix. Matrix Main items and Matrix Mod items.
- Matrix Main items are the base or main items such as a large pizza
- Matrix Mod items are the modifiers and are usually things such as toppings used on a pizza
- Matrix Mod items can be used on multiple Matrix Main items as the pricing structure is tied to the main item only
Once you have a Matrix Main Item setup in the Item Manager you will have access to a new button that can be used to setup your matrix for the item.
The Matrix setup is identical regardless of where the screen is accessed, either in Item Manager or the Matrix Setup screen:

Matrix Mod items are given a new field type named 'Matrix Factor' in the Item Manager screen, this 'Factor' is the amount by which the matrix modifier is multiplied when it is used to modify a matrix main item.
Factors are not limited to whole numbers.
For example, assuming a whole topping is a factor of 1:
If you have 1/4 toppings for a Pizza you would set the factor to .25, half toppings will have a factor of .50 and so on.
When setting up factors that are fractions it is vital to remember that all factors must be divisible by a common number. You cannot have a factor of .33 and .50 as the system cannot calculate these together.

The Matrix setup screen lists the Base price of the item. The base price is not editable in this screen and would need to be changed in the Item Manager screen
Factor column: is the factor by which Matrix Mod items will be multiplied for this item
Price 1: This column shows the price of the item with the associated "number" of modifiers
Price 2 through 7: Prices in the remaining columns 2 through 7 can be activated by technical support staff
Once you know the item's base price you need to calculate how much each 'unit' of the toppings will cost.
For example:
A base price of $14.50
1 full topping = $1.00
that would result in base item + 3.5 toppings = $18.50
